Family Archives.
The public fonds, the family papers.
The papers of the Princes of Tricase are in two places. The historical fonds is held at the Archivio di Stato di Lecce, where anyone may consult it. What remained with the House is the genealogical work of Guido Guerri dall'Oro Gallone and the images gathered on this page.
This page says where the documents are, and whom to approach for each of the two sets. They are not interchangeable: the feudal deed, the lawsuit, the administrative correspondence are at Lecce; the genealogical reconstruction and the iconography are with the family.
The two archives.
The Archivio dei Principi Gallone is a private archival fonds held at the Archivio di Stato di Lecce. It gathers the documents of the "state" of Tricase: feudal deeds, lawsuits, the administration of the fiefs of Caprarica del Capo, Specchia Gallone, Andrano, Nociglia, and the correspondence of the house.
According to the institution's director, Donato Pasculli, in a TeleRama television report, the fonds travelled in two stages: the heirs of Maria Bianca Gallone, who had settled in northern Italy, gave it in 1965 to the Archivio di Stato of Genoa; it was then moved to Lecce in 1979, at the initiative of the director of the day, because those papers speak to the rest of the Salento holdings.
How to consult it. On site, during opening hours. The printed finding aid is the inventory by D. Lala De Giorgi, L'Archivio dei Principi Gallone. I documenti dello «stato» di Tricase (Tricase, Edizioni dell'Iride, 2001). In September 2026 the institution began digitising the inventory, to be published on its own site: from then on, items can be identified remotely and digital reproductions requested.
The description of the fonds and of its creator can be consulted on SIUSA, the information system of the archival Superintendencies.
With the House remain the genealogical work of Guido Guerri dall'Oro Gallone (1941–2019) — the database that is the source of these pages — the heraldic tables and the documents reproduced above, the family photographs and the portraits, among them those painted by Roman Bilinski.
This is not a deposited fonds, and it has no inventory: it is private material, presented on this site as it is digitised. The downloadable files section below is meant to hold the freely distributable part of it.
For a specific question — a document, a filiation, a photograph — write to the House. Corrections and archival leads are particularly welcome.

This section will progressively make available the digitised archival documents: family trees in PDF, GEDCOM exports from the Heredis database, and scans of historical documents of the house.
No file is yet available for download. This section will be updated soon.
