The history of the fief.
The Duchy of Civitella Alfedena is the noble title of the House of della Posta, an ancient family originally from Apulia and later settled in the Kingdom of Naples. The documented succession sees Augusto I della Posta (1813–1890), 4th Duke, married in 1834 to Margherita Carignani (1815–1891) of the Dukes of Novoli; Augusto II della Posta (1849–1917), 5th Duke, married in 1884 to Beatrice Arnould (1861–1942) of the Arnould Baronets; Augusto III della Posta (1890–1970), 7th Duke, married in 1915 to Maria Bianca Gallone, 10th Princess of Tricase; and Donna Simonetta della Posta (1916–1986), only daughter, married in 1939 to Count Aldo Guerri dall'Oro.
Through Donna Simonetta, the memory and part of the patrimony of the House of della Posta join the present-day Guerri dall'Oro Gallone descent.
Civitella Alfedena is a small Abruzzo town set in the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, one of the oldest protected areas in Italy. Its position, in the high Apennine valleys, has preserved a natural and architectural environment of great integrity.
