Alessandro III Gallone.

Alessandro III Gallone is born on 8 September 1638, son of Stefano II Gallone and of Caterina Guarini. He grows up in the years when his father tirelessly enlarges the domain of the house — Tiggiano, Supersano, Caprarica del Capo, Salve, Tutino, Miggiano — and obtains from Philip IV of Spain, in 1651, the elevation of Tricase to a Principality.

On the death of Stefano II, on 18 December 1662, Alessandro succeeds him as 2nd Prince of Tricase: he is the first Gallone to receive the title by succession rather than by royal grant.

In the last year of his life Stefano II had acquired part of the fief of Nociglia. Alessandro III completes the acquisition in 1663: the barony enters the Gallone patrimony in its entirety. Two centuries later, the future 8th Prince, Giuseppe Gallone, would be named "Count of Nociglia" by his father before succeeding him.

In 1661 he marries Giovanna Trane, of the Dukes of Corigliano. Their son Stefano III is born in 1666, the very year in which Giovanna dies.

Alessandro III dies on 24 January 1675, at thirty-six. The heir, who has lost his mother and is still a child, is entrusted to the guardianship of his uncle Carlo Gallone, Alessandro's brother, Abbot of Caprarica del Capo and founder of the church of Sant'Angelo in Tricase.
