Giovanni Battista Gallone.

Giovanni Battista Gallone is born on 16 June 1800, only son of Giuseppe Gerardo Gallone, 6th Prince of Tricase, and of Maria Emanuela Pignatelli; he has four sisters, Beatrice, Maria Luisa, Brigida and Michela.

His father dies on 31 December 1806, and the child becomes 7th Prince of Tricase at six. That same year Joseph Bonaparte, who had become King of Naples, published the edicts on the abolition of feudalism: Giovanni Battista inherits a title that no longer carries with it lordship over the lands.

In September 1817 the "seventeen-year-old young prince" accompanies his mother from Tricase to Naples: eight days by carriage, with the agent of the House Domenico Risolo, a maidservant and the groom Vincenzo Longo, and stops at Fasano, Bari, Barletta, Cerignola, Bovino, Ariano Irpino, Mirabella and Avellino. Among the recorded expenses, beside the "amber tincture" and the manna of St Nicholas, appears an ice cream for the young prince. The journey costs 268.60 ducats.

Maria Emanuela dies in March of the following year. In 1818 Giovanni Battista marries Maria Felicia Statella (1801–1846), of the Princes of Cassaro.

With the 1796 marriage his father had concluded mortgage contracts on the goods of his brother-in-law, Girolamo III Pignatelli, prince of Moliterno and of Marsiconovo, laden with debts and fallen into political disgrace. When Girolamo dies without heirs, in 1848, the two titles devolve to his nephew: Giovanni Battista becomes 4th Prince of Moliterno and 6th Prince of Marsiconovo.

He is the first Gallone to hold the three Principalities together. From him the succession of Moliterno passes without interruption down to Maria Bianca Gallone and, after her, to the Guerri dall'Oro Gallone.

Maria Felicia Statella dies in Naples on 22 December 1846. Their son Giuseppe (1819–1898), whom his father had named Count of Nociglia, succeeds him on his death, on 2 October 1868, in the three Principalities; he would be Senator of the Kingdom of Italy.
